My finishing solution to 10 15" quilt blocks for the 2008 Central Kansas Quilt Shop Hop was inspired by the view of Kansas fields & countryside from the air.
This quilt finishes approx. 83" square.
The pattern only includes one block pattern, Guiding Star. The other 9 blocks were exclusive to the
other participating shops, but you can find block patterns in lots of books, on the internet & in magazines.
Wondering about the circles? (I made them with Smart-Ease
Circles Interfacing.) The shapes, colors and textures of central
Kansas' agricultural fields as seen from the air inspired me! I've
always been particularly intrigued by the pivot irrigation circular fields
combined with the more traditionally laid out fields. The directions of the
plowed furrows, the random creek beds, the variety in color of the crops as well
as the patterns left by the harvest combine to create a unique patchwork.
